Trying the Accu-Chek Insight insulin pump

Accu-Chek is now launching their new insulin pump, the Accu-Chek Insight.

I’ve had the benefit of trying this new insulin pump, and the advantages are many. It’s easy to understand and it didn't take long to learn to use the functions. As a user I appreciate that it’s a good and stable insulin pump.

A few pros with the Accu-Chek Insight:

• very quick loaded with insulin (pre-filled ampoules)
• a remote control for the pump which is filled with everything a T1D could need, which is:
• a glucose meter
• a bolus guide, which is of big help
• a diary where you easily log your readings, your boluses and notes
• the possibility of dosing very small volumes of insulin
• waterproof (I’ve tried swimming with it)

It’s a pump that should fit a lot of people, and especially the T1D kids since the remote control with all its functions is of big help for the child (it’s easy to log your day), but also for the rest of the family that easily can take part of the childs day. It’s also easy to medicate the child through the remote control. No extra diaries or glucose meters needed.

If I were to wish something, it would be that less button presses would be needed. Sometimes it feels like bolusing takes a lot of time. At the same time I understand that they made it that way to help and make sure it’s done in the right way.

To be able to connect a CGM (continuous glucose meter) to the pump is something I hope Accu-Chek will provide in the next generation of insulin pumps.

But for me personally, the pre-filled ampoules is a real time saver! Running my business, spending time with my family and taking care of my diabetes is a handfull. Not having to spend all that time filling up the ampoules makes my site and insulin change a lot faster, and gives me more time to spend doing other things.

Also, the Accu-Chek pump fits perfectly in the AnnaPS clothes with pockets. I’ve mostly carried the pump in the panty pocket and the remote control in the tank top pocket. That makes it easy to take the remote control out and bolusing.

Test av ny insulinpump - Accu-Chek Insight

Accu-Chek lanserar nu sin nya insulinpump, Accu-Chek Insight. 

Jag har haft förmånen att testa denna nya insulinpump och det finns många fördelar. Den är enkel att förstå och det gick fort att lära sig använda dess funktioner. Som användare uppskattar jag att det är en bra och stabil insulinpump.

Några riktigt bra saker med Accu-Chek Insight:

- extra snabbt att ladda med nytt insulin (förfyllda reservoarer)

- fjärrkontroll till pumpen som är fylld med allt en diabetiker behöver (allt-i-ett), det är:

• blodsockermätare
• bolusguide som är bra och till stor hjälp
• en dagbok där du enkelt loggar dina blodsockervärden, bolus och dina anteckningar
• möjligt att dosera mycket små mängder insulin
• vattentät (jag har testat att simma med den)

Det är en pump som borde passa många, speciellt barn med diabetes då fjärrkontrollen med alla dess funktioner är en stor hjälp både för barnet själv (enkelt att logga dagen), men också för övriga familjen som enkelt kan ta del av barnets dag. Samt att det är enkelt för andra att medicinera barnet med fjärrkontrollen. Inga extra dagböcker eller blodsockermätare behövs. 

Om jag skulle önska något så är det att det skulle krävas färre tryck på fjärrkontrollen. Ibland upplevs lite tidskrävande att ta insulin. Samtidigt förstår jag att det är gjort så av säkerhetsskäl, för att hjälpa och för att säkra att man gör rätt. 

Att kunna koppla CGM (continuous glucose meter) till pumpen är något jag hoppas Accu-Chek kommer med i nästa generations insulinpump.

Men för mig personligen är de förfyllda reservoarerna en riktig tidsparare! Att driva mitt företag, umgås med familjen och ta hand om min diabetes, det är krävande. Att inte behöva spendera tid med att fylla reservoarer gör mina nål- och insulinbyten mycket snabbare, och ger mig tid över att spendera på annat.

Dessutom passar Accu-Chek insulinpump perfekt i AnnaPS-kläderna med ficka. Mest har jag burit pumpen i trosfickan och haft fjärrkontrollen i linnets ficka. Då är det lätt att ta fram handenheten och ta insulin.
